Kevin Qian Named Deputy Program Coordinator for Inter-Pacific Bar Association

SHANGHAI, CHINA (2 July 2007) — Kevin Qian, partner of MWE China Law Offices, has been named Deputy Program Coordinator for the International Trade Committee of Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).  Mr. Qian recently resigned as Chairman of the organisation, a position which he has held for the last three years.

In April Mr. Qian, in his role as Chief Coordinator of the Sponsoring Committee of China, organised and attended the 17th Annual Meeting & Conference of IPBA at the China World Hotel, Beijing.  He coordinated the event along with Mr Gao Zongze, former President of ACLA and President-Elect of IPBA, Mr Yu Ning, President of ACLA, Mr Deng Jiaming, Secretary General of ACLA and Madam Feng Xiumei, Assistant Secretary General of ACLA and Council Member of IPBA.  This four-day annual conference drew together approximately 800 attorneys from 45 countries and regions.

The Program Committee covered legal hotspots, including cross-border investment in China, banking, international trade, Olympics-related infrastructure projects, environment protection, utilisation of natural resources, intellectual property, anti-monopoly, dispute resolution and arbitration, tax issue, practice environment and development of women lawyers, and aerospace law and airport construction, etc.  In addition to high profile lawyers from around the globe, top government officers and senior managers of large multinationals also spoke at the sessions giving a comprehensive view of developments across this exciting region.
