Joseph Zhou, J.D., Ph.D.

Joseph Zhou is a partner of MWE China Law Offices based in Shanghai. He has broad-based experience in intellectual property law. His practice focuses on patent prosecution and litigation. He has represented clients in the areas of semiconductor devices, processing and packaging; electronic devices and circuits; wireless communication, network protocols, software, medical devices, mechanical devices, and chemical engineering. He has drafted and prosecuted over hundreds of patent applications. He has extensive experience in claim construction, patent portfolio analysis, patent infringement/non-infringement analysis, Markman Hearing briefing, discovery, disposition and in non-disclosure agreements. He also has experience in representing clients in U.S. International Trade Commission Section337 Proceedings.
Before joining MWE China Law, Dr. Zhou practiced law with several leading international law firms. Dr. Zhou also worked as an engineer and patent agent in the Intellectual Property Law Department of a leading US technology firm, and served as a faculty member at Indiana State University.
Dr. Zhou received his Ph.D. degree in Physics from Purdue University. He received his J.D. from Arizona State University, where he was named as Willard H. Pedrick Scholar for Academic Excellence.
Dr. Zhou is a member of the California Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
