Experience / Private Client
As China’s economy matures, Chinese high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) are beginning to look beyond the immediate generation of wealth and toward finding effective means to protect their fortunes and the futures of their families. At MWE China Law Offices, our Private Client Practice Group represents HNWIs as well as ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) and their families, focusing on our clients’ objectives in areas such as trust arrangements, tax planning, matrimonial issues, generational wealth transfers, corporate advisory, financial legal guidance and private charitable foundations, both within and outside of the PRC.
Through our strategic alliance with McDermott Will & Emery, we offer a global legal practice that takes advantage of the most up-to-date developments in wealth management and provides the timely, effective feedback in international estate planning. We also craft practical asset management plans that not only meet our clients' sensitive needs, but also are enforceable under PRC laws and regulations.
Our team regularly advises on international, cross-border estate planning and investments to achieve maximum tax savings for our clients. We offer optimized asset management plans that make full use of the preferential trust laws in different jurisdictions, and manage family wealth with instruments such as wills, trusts, insurance, powers of attorney, pre- and post-nuptial agreements. We draft family constitutions and establish financing and investment commissions, as well as other wealth management options, and use trust arrangements for Chinese family businesses to achieve stock listings overseas.
Our lawyers also provide legal advice on immigration, purchase of properties overseas, the education of children and dependents abroad, and matrimonial, inheritance and adoption issues. We represent our clients in court proceedings when disputes over estates arise in cases of divorce or death.
